Samaritan's Child

A handicapped teen tries to help a boy fleeing the scene of a murder.

Dino Martelli, a high-school drop-out, works a menial job for the developer of a convention center in Miami, who is also his mother's boyfriend, Frank. When a construction foreman confronts Frank about safety issues on the over-budget, behind-schedule project, Frank snaps, while Dino is in the other room raiding the petty cash box for lunch money. Fearing that Frank will come after the only witness to his crime, Dino takes his mother's beat-up car and heads north.

Brent Allison has barely graduated high school. His friends are all going off to college or careers in the city. Everything that could save Brent from wasting away in a trailer park--a car, a college education, a prosthetic limb to replace the one he lost in a drunk-driving accident--costs too much money to even consider. Brent is in no position to help the sick teenage boy he finds collapsed on his deck. Yet something else calls to Brent--something that feels like redemption.

Gas Pump Prophet

Two teens struggling with debilitating guilt find uncommon wisdom from a grizzled old shopkeeper.

Lisa Kingsley hears the cries of her aborted child in every high-pitched voice, every cat's meow. Josiah Watkins can't bear to look at his own sister, whose life was threatened by a friend he'd allowed to get too close. Both teens receive prophetic wisdom from the old man who owns the wood-floored general store next to the high school. They tell other students, and Old Ray becomes a cult figure in the school. As Ray is bombarded with kids asking him to tell them which college they should attend, or whether a girl is cheating on her boyfriend, Lisa and Josiah must join together to rescue the old man. In the process, they learn the source of true healing lies in the very person they didn't want to consider--Jesus Christ.
