The Fifth Generation

Picture
Two teens from opposite sides of the interstate find common ground in a dark family secret.

Newly returned to rural Stiles County after living in Raleigh for ten years, Daniella Cooper sees her quarterback boyfriend as her ticket into the popular crowd. Being chosen for the lead role in the school play wouldn’t hurt either. Yet others see her as an outsider, and accuse her of stealing her boyfriend from another girl.

Devon Jones, a seventeen-year-old African-American boy, is a new believer in Christ who struggles to break free from his past. Yet Devon’s past won’t so easily let go of him.

A severe storm brings calamity to both households. A tree destroys part of Devon’s house, and his frightened grandmother claims there’s blood on her hands. Human remains are discovered in the washed-out soil of what was once the Cooper Plantation. Daniella’s and Devon’s lives converge as they uncover a dark family secret.
